Holiday Food Distribution

Every holiday season, Sunshine Division distributes thousands of food boxes and turkey meal kits to households across the Portland metro area. Dedicated volunteers and members of the Portland Police Bureau help us home-deliver the majority of these food boxes to our clients’ doorsteps. The rest are distributed through 40+ community partners.

Food Boxes in Precincts

Our unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau allows Sunshine Division to provide food assistance 24/7 to families and individuals in crisis. Our food boxes can be found in every Portland Police precinct, and officers can refer people to Sunshine Division while responding to calls and wellness checks. We are immensely grateful for this ongoing partnership to serve to our most vulnerable neighbors.

Community Partnerships

Sunshine Division distributes hundreds of thousands of pounds of free food annually to a network of 100+ partnering organizations including social service agencies, school districts and the Portland Police Bureau. These partnerships allow us to amplify our impact and extend our reach across the metro area and surrounding counties in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Izzy’s Kids “Shop With A Cop”

Sunshine Division partners with the Portland Police Bureau to pair nearly 500 low-income children with officers to provide a unique one-on-one clothing shopping experience at a local department store. We work with the bureau, social service agencies and schools to identify children whose families cannot afford to outfit them with new clothes. Students feel good showing up to school in new clothes, and they gain a positive experience with a police officer in the process.

Free Food Markets

Sunshine Division operates two Free Food Markets locations in Southeast and Northwest Portland. In June 2026, we returned to a market-style experience and opened our second location at our new headquarters. Clients who meet our eligibility requirements may visit the food pantry up to 16 times per year.

Home Delivery Program

Sunshine Division serves more than 500 households each week through our Home Delivery Program. People who are homebound, physically limited or lack reliable transportation may sign up to receive a free food box delivered to their doorstep. Over 100,000 food boxes have been distributed through this program since 2020.
