The holiday efforts of the Portland Police Sunshine Division date back to 1923 and it is a tradition we proudly continue. During the month of November and December we will be collecting canned food at participating grocery stores, local businesses and precincts. On December 14th and 16th from 6 pm to 9 pm Sunshine Division will be packing 4500 boxes of food and on December 19th beginning at 8:00 am will deliver to families in the Portland area to ensure that no one in need goes hungry.
In addition to the Sunshine Division food drive, we are also leading 33 local nonprofits with the HANDS program. It is a central data base for names of families receiving holiday assistance in Multnomah County. It enables all the organizations to ensure that we are able to serve as many families as possible. On Delivery Day the Sunshine Division will be having boxes at our warehouse location (687 N. Thompson) in addition to East Precinct, North Precinct and Traffic Division. Volunteers will have the option to choose where to start from.
We ask that you consider helping us on December 19th. We are in need of volunteers for Pack Night and Delivery Day. It is a great opportunity for families and friends to help out during the holiday season. If you would like to volunteer or make a donation please call Sara at 503-823-2116.
